Home Sweet Home!

Nobody likes to admit it, but we all get a little homesick sometimes.  Most seniors look forward to leaving their house, being out from under mom and dad’s thumb, having the freedom to do what they want when they want. Well college is exactly that and it’s amazing!  You finally have the chance to be independent and prove to your parents that you really can make it on your own.  However, a trip back home every once in a while doesn’t hurt.  The distance you put between your parents and your college can affect how often you go back home.  Most out of state students (more than a 5 hour drive) usually only go home for breaks.  If you are really close to home (like 1 hour) you might not go home very often but at least you have the option and a short drive if you want to.  If you live that close though, parents can sometimes pressure you into coming home more than you want.  I live 3 hours away from my house and it works for me.  It’s kind of a long drive but I can easily drive home on a Friday night, stay the weekend, and drive back Sunday afternoon; and there’s enough distance from my parents that I can become my own person and make my own decision.
